Q: How much does it cost to rent a jump house?
A: The price varies with the size of jumper and location. Our price includes delivery, set up and take down. A $50 deposit per unit will reserve the jumper of your choice for your event. Please call 920-621-JUMP (5867) or e-mail jake@jakesjumpers.com for a free quote.

Q: How far in advance should I reserve a jump house?
A: We recommend that a jump house be reserved as soon as possible in advance. During the summer months, the most popular units get booked up fast.

Q: What are methods of payment?
A: We are very flexible as far as payment. We accept cash, money orders, checks, PayPal, MasterCard, visa, discover, and American express or barter.

Q: Are we insured?
A: We are fully insured, and we can provide proof of insurance upon request. Be aware of the fly by nighters that pop up every summer and offer cheap rentals. There is a reason they can do this. NO INSURANCE even though they say they are not required to have. If you are not sure, please ask for proof.

Q: How much space do I need for a jump house?
A: A minimum of 20'x 25' is necessary, with overhead clearance of 18' for a jump house. The larger combos and obstacle course require more space.

Q: What is required for a setup?
A: A relatively flat clean open surface, with no overhead obstructions is required, along with a 20 ampere power outlet within 50 feet of the open area. Portable generators are available upon request.

Q: How many people can jump at a time?
A: Our 13'x13' bounce houses will hold 6-8 toddlers or 5-6 elementary age kids. As the persons' weights increase, the number of participants should decrease. The total weight of participants should not exceed 600 pounds

Q: Can I pick up the unit and set it up myself?
A: No. Safety is most important, we have qualified technicians set up the jump house, check for safe operations, and instruct the renter how to safely operate the unit.

Q: Who sets up the inflatable jumpers?
A: We have qualified technicians that have been properly trained to set up the jump houses so they can be enjoyed in a safe manner. The technicians have been instructed on how to prevent hazards.

Q: Does there have to be adult supervision present? A: Yes. After the safety review, an adult must supervise the jump house operation.

Q: What is your bad weather policy?
A: We always reserve the right to cancel a reservation (at no penalty to you) if there are heavy rains or winds (over 20 mph). WE always monitor the weather, should it be raining or high winds the day of you event, we will contact you to discuss a reschedule or refund. Once a unit is setup there will be no refunds. As much as you do not want to have your party in the rain, I also do not want my equipment in the rain.

Q: Does the inflatable have to be set up on grass?
A: We can set up jumpers on grass, asphalt or pavement, but prefer grass.

Q: Are the inflatable jumpers clean?
A: We insure each unit is clean at the time of set up.

Q: How long does it take to set up an inflatable and take it down?
A: It takes our technicians approximately 10-15 minutes to set up and go over the safety rules, and takes 15-20 minutes to take it down and roll it up.

Q: How do the children get in and out of the jump house safely?
A: Our jump houses have an inflatable safety step to help kids with entry and departure. Always exit inflatable feet first, NOT HEAD FIRST. This includes sliding down the slides.

Q: Do I have to leave the blower run all day?
A: The blower must run in order for the jumper to operate safely. The blower uses less energy than a hair dryer.

Q: Can a jump house be set up inside?
A: Yes, we do set-ups indoors, assuming that the space is large enough to accommodate the unit. Spaces that are typically large enough are gyms, stages, shopping malls, and convention halls. We also carry an indoor bounce house that can be setup inside a garage with at lease an 8' ceiling.

Q: Can I rent an inflatable late in the evening or over night?
A: Jumpers must be taken down prior to sunset, before the dew sets in, arrangements can be made for multiple day rentals.

Q: Will the inflatable harm my lawn?
A: No, the unit will not harm your lawn. We sometimes place tarps down under the jump house to make sure that any movement will minimize any damage. We will also anchor the jumpers with stakes, but stakes will not damage your lawn. Please let us know if you have an in-ground lawn watering system.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Deposits are non-refundable 14 days prior to the reservation date.

Q: Can inflatable jumpers be used in the rain?
A: We always reserve the right to cancel a reservation if there is bad weather. However, if conditions are marginal when the unit is dropped off, we recommend to not use jumper in periods of rain or lightning.

Q: How did the popularity of jumpers begin?
A. Here's a little history about jumpers. Inflatable structures are large cold air inflatables that people (usually children) can enter and bounce around on. They have been marketed under a variety of names: Astrojump or moonwalk or moon bounce or jolly jump in the US, bouncy castle or inflatable castle in the UK and parts of Australia, and as jumping castles in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Africa. They are often in the shape of a castle but can be made into a variety of designs. The walls and floor are both bouncy, like a trampoline.

The original inflatable structure was designed in 1959 by John Scurlock. He was experimenting with inflatable covers for tennis courts when he noticed his employees enjoyed jumping on the covers. He started the Space Walk company to market them for children and called them Space Walks. He started out with a large air mattress. In 1967-1968, he decided to add walls. The windows were made of solid clear plastic and were enclosed like a bubble- one fan inflated the base while another inflated the bubble and circulated air for the riders.

Inflatable structures were also designed by university students in England around 1961 for a fundraising event.

The surfaces are typically composed of thick, strong PVC or vinyl and nylon, and the castle is inflated using an electric or petrol-powered blower. The principle is one of constant leakage, meaning small punctures are not a problem, although this means the fans need to be quite powerful; a medium-size "bouncy castle" requires a fan with a mechanical output of about two horsepower (consuming around 2 kW electrical power, allowing for the efficiency of the motor).

The term "moonwalk" has evolved as the generic term for enclosed inflatable trampolines in the US. Modern moonwalks in the US are typically supported by inflatable columns and enclosed with netting to allow air to pass through. The netting also allows for proper supervision as adults can see in from all sides.

UK and Australian bouncy castles have different specifications calling for fully inflated walls on 3 sides with an open front and foam "crash mats" to catch children who may jump or fall out of the structure.

Inflatables are most commonly rented for private functions, school and church festivals, village fetes and corporate events. Although they are aimed at children, adult castles can be hired in the UK. Because of liability concerns moonwalks are rarely rented to adults in the US. They are often used to wrestle, bounce or rumble. Recently, a theatrical group has started performing Shakespearian tragedies on bouncy castles at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Hamlet in 2006, Macbeth in 2007).

The growth in popularity of standard moonwalks has led to an entire inflatable amusement industry which includes inflatable slides, obstacle courses, games, and more. Inflatables are ideal for portable amusements because they are relatively easy to transport and store but make a big impact when fully inflated. From wikipedia.org
